Yaesu-FT-891
« on: November 29, 2017, 08:19:06 am »
I am thinking about asking Santa to bring me a Yaesu ft-891. Not that I need one as I already  have a remote capable FTdx-3000, FT-991(with help from Roger on both) and I even managed to remote my FT-2000 via a SCU-17 by myself.
I
It appears I can also use the SCU-17 with the FT-891. My question is:  would the server software have to be tweaked to accommodate the 891 or should the server software work as is by perhaps identifying the radio as one of the Yaesu models currently on the list???

I am not interested enough in remoting the 891 if  server software changes would be needed.

Haven't gotten around to adding the 891 to the driver. If you get one from Santa, let me know and I can get it added fairly quickly.

Santa left me a Yaesu ft- 891 and I'm contemplating making it RemoteHams capable with the Yaesu SCU-17 I have. Yaesu tech support says I need to interface via the front panel mike jack. I'm exploring feasibility of using rear panel data connector(?)

Also a driver for the 891 would be required. Would that be part of the server software??

This is not a high priority project for me as I have 3 other remotehams capable rigs. The 891 would be a back-up for my 991 So if  a driver involves a lot of effort or time and I'd be the only one using it don't bother . Thanks! K9DBV terry
